Saturday 5 July

Europe's biggest street party, London Gay Pride, comes to town this weekend and with its usual mix of fantastic floats and colourful costumes, as well as booming club tunes and cabaret performances, it's predicted to be bigger and better than ever. The parade route begins on Oxford Street and travels down to Trafalgar Square. Free.

Friday 4 to Sunday 6 July

Head to the White Horse in Parsons Green for a bit of 'Yee-ha!' as it hosts its All-American Weekend beer festival in celebration of US Independence Day. Specially invited micro-breweries from Chicago, New York and Denver will showcase their keg and cask beers, and for that bit of extra stateside cheer why not follow the caller's instructions and join in the line dancing?

Saturday 5 July

Unleash your inner mover and learn the steps to some 18th-century social dancing at the National Gallery on Saturday, as part of the Big Dance events taking place all over the capital this weekend. As well as learning more about the significance of each movement, you'll also be invited to join in a contradance — a traditional folk-style line dance. Elsewhere street dancing workshops, ballet for beginners and world dance events are just some of the activities on offer. Free.
